Our History

Beginning

Calvary Chapel Central Oahu was given birth on July 15, 1990 at the Mililani YMCA. This church is a multiplication from the North Shore Christian Fellowship, the result of six years of outreach Bible Studies in this section of Oahu.

We met regularly at Mililani Uka Elementary School on Sunday mornings until May 1995. Our next place of residence was a renovated pre-school located at Waikalani Drive in Waipio Valley. We resided there for 3 years until May 1998.

Later, Mililani High School was the home to Calvary Chapel Central Oahu for several years.

Property

In 2016, Calvary Chapel Central Oahu officially purchased property in Mililani Mauka.

New Vision

On July 14, 2019, Calvary Chapel Central Oahu officially became Calvary Chapel Mililani.

Our Purpose

Our stated purpose as a church is to be a body of believers who are having hearts changed by God and turned toward others, to have our lifestyles changed from being disobedient to the wisdom of the just, and to have our destiny changed as few become a people prepared for Jesus’ coming, based on Luke 1:16-17.

The key word is change and as we are changed by the power of God we desire that God would use us to change the community. The only way to this kind of change in our lives is through Jesus Christ.

16 And he will turn many of the children of Israel to the Lord their God,
17 and he will go before him in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just, to make ready for the Lord a people prepared.

[Luke 1:16-17 ESV]

What We Believe

We at Calvary Chapel Mililani firmly believe that great doctrines of historic Christianity as they are revealed in the Bible.

1. We believe that the whole Bible to be the inspired, inerrant Word of God. (authoritative for daily life without error in the original writings).

2. We believe there is one God, infinite, eternal, and immutable. He is the Creator, Sustainer, and Governor of all things. He exists in three persons ~ Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

3. We believe in: The Lord Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God who became man, without ceasing to be God; His virgin birth; His sinless life; His substitutionary death for our sins; His bodily resurrection, ascension and second coming.

4. We believe that all men are sinners by nature and by practice, being alienated by God; man is unable to remedy his lost condition in and of himself.

5. We believe that salvation is the gift of God brought to man by grace and received by personal trust in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Those who have so trusted Christ are indwelt by the Holy Spirit and enabled to live a Godly life through submission to Him.

6. We believe that the Holy Spirit that the Holy Spirit is a person. He is God and possesses all the divine attributes. He indwells all believers, baptizes, imparts gifts (Charismata) as He wills and fills them in response to confession of sin and yieldedness.

7. We believe unconfessed sin and an unrepentant heart brings interruption in fellowship with God, bringing the loving discipline of the Heavenly Father.

8. We believe in the church of Jesus Christ as the Body of the True Believers Universal, called out by the Holy Spirit, espoused to the Bride of Christ.

9. We believe in the personal, imminent, and premillennial return of Jesus Christ to establish His Kingdom.

10. We believe in the bodily resurrection of both the saved and the lost ~ the saved unto eternal life and ~ the lost unto eternal judgment.

Our Faith

Calvary Chapel has been formed as a fellowship of believers in the Lordship of Jesus Christ. Our supreme desire is to know Christ and to be conformed into His image by the power of the Holy Spirit.

We believe…

The only true basis of Christian fellowship is God’s Agape’ Love, which is greater than any differences we possess, and without which we have no right to claim ourselves to be Christians.

We believe…

Worship of God should be spiritual. Therefore we remain flexible and yielded to the Holy Spirit to direct our worship.

We believe…

Worship of God should be inspirational. Therefore we give great place to music in our worship.

We believe…

Worship of God should be intelligent. Therefore our services are designed with great emphasis upon teaching the Word of God.

We believe…

Worship of God should be fruitful. Therefore we look for His love in our lives as the supreme manifestation that we have truly been worshipping Him.

Our Worship

We believe that a primary purpose that God created us is that we should worship Him. Therefore we provide opportunities to worship in the various services, Bible Studies, and retreats.

We provide an opportunity during the time of worship to offer up spontaneous prayer, as the Spirit of God prompts our hearts.

Our worship involves various forms of music and musical instruments. The Bible gives many examples where these instruments have been used to inspire and facilitate worship. (Exodus 15:20, 2 Samuel 6:5, 1 Chronicles 5:13-14, 1 Chronicles 15:16)

Worship prepares our hearts to receive from God, “…come before His presence with singing….Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise.” (Psalm 100:2b, 4a)

That we worship from the heart, not the lips. Many of the songs that we sing are directly from the Bible.

Therefore the entire congregation is the choir and we encourage you to worship the Lord in your own way. The raising of hands (Nehemiah 8:6), standing, or kneeling, is completely acceptable if you feel so led.

Our Vision

Habakkuk 2:2-4 [ESV]

2 And the Lord answered me:
Write the vision;
make it plain on tablets,
so he may run who reads it.

3 For still the vision awaits its appointed time;
it hastens to the end—it will not lie.
If it seems slow, wait for it;
it will surely come; it will not delay.

4 Behold, his soul is puffed up; it is not upright
within him,
but the righteous shall live by his faith.

Psalm 127:1 [ESV]

Unless the Lord builds the house,
those who build it labor in vain.
Unless the Lord watches over the city,
the watchman stays awake in vain.
